It seems like the dark and distant past now, but it's worth
re-emphasising quite how revolutionary Mark Radcliffe's
brief nut bright stint as Radio 1's flagship breakfast jock
was. Back in February, City Life was so convinced of the
significance that we put Radcliffe on the cover. Why?
Because it was the first time that Radio 1 had ever based
it's Breakfast Show outside London, let alone in
Manchester. And despite the falling figures after the high of
Chris Evans, Radcliffe and his sidekick Marc 'Lard' Riley
(pictured right) aquitted themselves famously. Now
banished to the rather less attention grabbing 2-4pm slot,
Radcliffe and Riley remain purveyors of'quality items',
being both daft and very intelligent in almost the
same breath. Now about that Zoe Ball...
